Tulsi Japa Mala is a sacred rosary made from the wood of the Tulsi (Holy Basil) plant. Tulsi is revered in Hinduism for its spiritual and medicinal properties, and the use of Tulsi beads for prayer and meditation is deeply ingrained in Hindu culture.

The Tulsi plant is considered sacred and is believed to be an incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi. Its leaves, flowers, and wood are used in various religious rituals and ceremonies. The wood of the Tulsi plant is especially valued for its association with devotion and purity.

Tulsi Japa Mala typically consists of 108 beads, although variations with different numbers of beads are also used. Each bead is smoothly polished and often emits a subtle, pleasant fragrance. The mala is usually strung together with a thread or string, with a Extra bead known as the Meru bead marking the starting and ending point of the meditation or prayer cycle.

Using Tulsi Japa Mala for mantra recitation (Japa) is believed to have numerous spiritual benefits. The repetitive chanting of mantras while counting the beads helps focus the mind and cultivate a deeper connection to the divine. Additionally, the Tulsi wood is said to absorb the positive energy generated during meditation and prayer, enhancing the spiritual experience.

Tulsi Japa Malas are commonly used by devotees of Lord Vishnu and his avatars, as well as followers of Vaishnavism, a major tradition within Hinduism. They are also used by practitioners of other spiritual paths who appreciate the sacredness and symbolism associated with Tulsi.
